ABOUT NIT, JALANDHAR

Dr B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NITJ) was established in the year 1987 as Regional Engineering College and was conferred the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University) by the Government of India on October 17, 2002 under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. The Government of India has declared the Institute as an “Institute of National Importance” under an act of Parliament in 2007.

As one of the National Institutes of Technology (NIT), the Institute has the responsibility of providing high quality education in Engineering, Technology and Sciences to produce competent technical and scientific manpower for the country. The Institute offers B Tech, M Tech, M Sc, MBA and PhD programmes in several disciplines of Engineering, Technology and Sciences.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
Operations management is an area of management concerned with designing and controlling the process of production and redesigning business operations in the production of goods or services. Operation management covers sectors like banking systems, hospitals, companies, working with suppliers, customers, and using technology. Operations is one of the major functions in an organization along with supply chains,
marketing, finance and human resources.
This course is designed to impart knowledge to the participants pertaining to theoretical as well as analytical treatment to the problems related with operation management and Supply Chain. The course content would
include the emerging theories in operation management and flow of goods, movement and storage of raw materials, workin-process inventory, and finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption. The course will explore critical aspects like optimal design of supply chain, good vendor
selection policy, reverse logistics, risk management issues etc., as applicable to supply chain management. The participants from academia will be benefited immensely by these latest updates for improving their teaching abilities, curriculum and carry out research activities in the field of Supply Chain and Operations Management. The industry participants may adopt the models and tools in order to improve the efficacy of their organizations to take up the challenge and better competitiveness.
